The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Bond Election for May 2, 2026, allowing voters to consider a proposed bond package focused on facility needs, modernization, safety, and capacity across the district.
The bond package is $240 million and would fund projects implemented in phases from June 2026 through August 2030/31. If approved by voters, the bond package includes 11 capital improvement projects that will impact 18 campuses across the district. Projects outlined include campus expansions, renovations, and modernization of aging facilities, construction of a new Hopkins Elementary School, districtwide safety and lighting enhancements, and the demolition of obsolete buildings that continue to generate insurance and utility costs.
The bond projects were developed following facility assessments, enrollment trends, and long-term planning discussions by the 43-member Bond Action Committee, VISD Administration, and the Board of Trustees. If approved, bond funds may only be used for voter-authorized capital projects such as buildings and major infrastructure improvements. Bond funds cannot be used for salaries, daily operations, technology, or athletic facilities.
