Victoria ISD is proud to announce a comprehensive suite of college entrance exam opportunities for its students, demonstrating our continued commitment to providing access to vital academic resources. This initiative is supported by House Bill 3, which funds the first college entrance exam for each student, including the SAT, ACT, or TSIA.
Starting in the 2015-16 school year, VISD has covered all costs for all 8th-grade students to participate in the PSAT 8/9 exam. These exams were administered at their respective middle school campuses, ensuring easy access for all participants. This early exposure to college entrance exams helps our students better prepare for future academic challenges.
VISD extended support to high school students in grades 9-11 by covering the costs for those who opt to take the PSAT/NMSQT. Victoria East High School had 165 students and Victoria West High School had 198 students test in mid-October.
In further support of our students’ preparation for college, VISD administered the SAT School Day exam and the ACT School Day exam. Over 200 students took the SAT School Day Exam from Victoria East and West High Schools, and over 90 students took the ACT Exam.
These testing opportunities are part of VISD’s strategic effort to ensure equity by removing barriers that prevent students from a successful launch and providing students with the tools and experiences needed to pursue higher education. By removing financial barriers and providing these exams during school hours in familiar settings, VISD aims to encourage higher participation rates and lessen any anxiety associated with these significant assessments.
VISD remains dedicated to the academic success of its students and is committed to ensuring every student Finds Their ‘And’ in VISD.
