Victoria ISD is excited to announce the integration of the College Application Manager feature within SchooLinks, the district’s online course selection tool. This feature, available for the 2024-25 academic year, will facilitate secondary students in managing their college application process more effectively.
SchooLinks has been instrumental in aiding students with course selections each spring. Building on this foundation, the new College Application Manager will empower students by allowing them to:
Track Progress: Monitor the requirements and status of their college applications.
Organize Materials: Efficiently manage application materials for multiple college submissions.
Request Recommendations: Seamlessly request and send letters of recommendation from teachers or counselors directly to institutions.
Record College Application Results: Indicate which college(s) students were accepted to, denied from, or waitlisted by, to assist school counselors in monitoring students as they pursue their post-graduation plans.
It is important to note that while the College Application Manager helps organize and track application components, it is not a portal for submitting applications directly. Students must still use the application methods provided by individual colleges or utilize platforms like the Common App for application submissions.
VISD encourages students to consult with their high school counselors and the College and Career Center to gain comprehensive insights into the college application process, including how to effectively use the Common App.
Starting this academic year, Victoria ISD seniors have a valuable new tool at their disposal for pursuing educational funding. Through the SchoolLinks platform, students can access a comprehensive list of scholarship opportunities, including national public sources, district-specific scholarships, and local scholarships - such as those from the VISD Education Foundation.
To streamline the scholarship application process, students can create a Scholarship Match Profile on SchooLinks. This innovative feature will automatically identify and recommend scholarships to students that match their eligibility and/or interests. Each potential scholarship is scored from 1 to 100, indicating the degree of match with the student’s profile. Students can easily view the details of their matches, apply to scholarships, mark them as applied upon completion, and even track awarded scholarships and their monetary values.
It will be essential for students to regularly check SchooLinks, as new scholarship opportunities are continually being added, enhancing their chances of securing additional funding for their future educational endeavors.
Accessing SchooLinks is now more convenient than ever through Clever. Information regarding how to access and navigate SchooLinks, along with its array of features, will be distributed to students and guardians by secondary campuses.
