Victoria ISD is committed to providing students with educational opportunities that prepare them for success both in college and in their careers. Through our CHOICE Schools initiative, students can explore specialized programs that align with their interests and future goals.
At the heart of this initiative are our P-TECH Pathways (Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools), which offer an innovative approach to education, combining high school coursework with college credits and work-based learning in high-demand industries.
P-TECH pathways allow students to earn a high school diploma, industry-recognized certifications, college credits toward an associate degree, and gain valuable work experience in specialized career fields, all at no cost to families. Through partnerships with local businesses and higher education institutions, students have the unique opportunity to graduate prepared for both college and the workforce.
Engineering & Healthcare at Victoria East High School
Engineering: Offers hands-on experience in engineering fields such as civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
Healthcare: Prepares students for careers in the medical field through practical learning in areas such as medical assistance and healthcare administration.
Computer Science & Education and Training at Victoria West High School
Computer Science: Provides a deep dive into coding, software development, and IT, setting students up for success in a growing tech industry.
Education and Training: Equips future educators with the tools and experiences needed to succeed in the field of education, from early childhood development to secondary education.
Do you have a current VISD 8th grader who might be interested in a P-TECH pathway?
Students will have dedicated information sessions during the school day at their campuses in October and November. Parents will also be invited to a P-TECH information session, which will take place in late October. Detailed information will follow.
While P-TECH is a focus, VISD's CHOICE Schools offer other specialized educational pathways, including STEM, Personalized Learning, College and Career Prep, and Dual Language. Each CHOICE pathway is designed to ensure that students have the flexibility to explore their unique interests and talents, guiding them toward academic and professional achievement.
